Bounce House Safety Checklist for Parents

A simple checklist parents can run through before the kids start bouncing — from anchoring to supervision rules.

Before the party

Confirm the rental company carries liability insurance and ask how their units are cleaned between rentals. Companies with BHA Safety Verified, Insurance Verified, and Clean Certified badges have already been checked on all three.

Make sure the setup area is flat, clear of rocks and sticks, and away from fences, pools, and low-hanging branches or power lines.

Setup day

The unit should be anchored at every point — stakes on grass, sandbags on hard surfaces. The blower should run continuously, and the power cord should be routed where nobody will trip over it.

If winds pick up above 15–20 mph, get everyone out and deflate the unit. Wind is the single biggest bounce house hazard.

While kids are bouncing

Keep an adult watching at all times — no exceptions. Group kids by size and age so little ones aren't bouncing with teenagers, and follow the posted capacity limits.

No shoes, no food or drinks, no sharp objects, and no flips or roughhousing. Most injuries come from collisions, not equipment failure.
